Prior to the dumbphone, I was a certified brainrotter. I would spend hours upon hours watching Tik Tok videos and Instagram reels. I would genuinely be sucked into the black hole that is the social media algorithm. The thing is, I knew that it was bad for me. I could literally feel my brain aching and melting every time I opened Instagram reels, but I was genuinely addicted. Deleting the apps wouldn’t work because I would just download it again after a few days. And in this economy, I wasn’t going to pay a subscription just to turn my iPhone into a dumbphone.
